Elstree Aerodrome by Grant Peerless

This work examines the aircraft, events and personalities that have shaped Elstree over nearly 70 years, from its humble beginnings in the 1930s as a landing strip associated with a country club to one of the foremost general aviation airfields in the country.

Grant Peerless took early retirement in 1999 from a career in civil engineering and then worked as a consultant until retiring finally in 2013. With his late co-author Richard Riding, they wrote Elstree Aerodrome: The Past in Pictures and Leavesden Aerodrome: From Halifaxes to Hogwarts. Grant went on to research all the airfields in the UK, publishing* UK Airfields Past and Present: A Directory of Airfields* from 1908 to 2018 in 2020. He flies regularly from Elstree and has so far visited over 130 airfields all over England.
