As a serious amateur historian, Frank O'Brien became interested in the Apollo program. He started doing research and writing essays for the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal and the Apollo Flight Journal around 12 years ago. The Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC) and the Lunar Module were at the core of much of this effort. These Journals are widely regarded as the definitive online resource on lunar missions. He was then requested to participate with the development of the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island, New York, where he assisted in the preparation of the Lunar Module simulator, a LM procedure trainer, and an Apollo space suit for display. He speaks to a wide range of audiences about the Apollo computer and related issues, including NASA's computer engineering conferences, the IEEE/ACM, computer festivals, and university student groups.
