Eyots and Aits by Miranda Vickers

For 10,000 years the River Thames meandered from source to sea, periodically throwing up mudbanks or carving parallel channels on the bends and creating islands along much of its length.

Miranda Vickers grew up on the banks of the River Thames. She earned a Master's Degree in Balkan History from London University. She worked as a journalist in Kosovo during the Yugoslav Wars and later as an international commentator and presenter on Albanian politics. She lives near the Thames and enjoys walking along its banks and sailing on it. She develops and shows collages using objects from the riverbank and is active in raising awareness of environmental issues impacting the Thames.
