Faith in the Poor by Bob Holman
In this powerful book presented by highly respected author Bob Holman, seven individuals who experience poverty on a daily basis are given the opportunity to record what it's like. The result is a shocking exposee which demonstrates the largely underestimated gap between rich and poor in Britain today, and in which Bob Holman presents a case for involving poor people in the political decision making which affects their lives.
BOB HOLMAN worked as a social worker before becoming a professor of social administration. He then spent 20 years living in poor housing estates, latterly Easterhouse in Glasgow, supporting the poor in practical ways. Driven by his Christian faith, he continued to campaign for the poor until his death in 2016. His books included A New Deal for Social Welfare, Children and Crime, and biographies of Keir Hardie and Woodbine Willie.
