He grew up near the Orwell estuary, where the naval station in Harwich and the Marine Aircraft Evaluation Establishment at Felixstowe piqued his interest in naval aviation. In 2007, he published his first book on the Blackburn Skua and Roc WW2 naval dive bomber/fighter, followed by a co-authored book on the Junkers Ju87 'Stuka' in 2008 and a book on the Sopwith Pup in 2015. In 2016, a book on the Fairey Flycatcher and another on the Fairey Barracuda will be released.
