James O'Neill is a Jersey City Private Investigator with a boss who at times is prone to making questionable business decisions (himself). After his fortunes change for the better he finds himself in need of an assistant to handle the overflow, which would free him up to pursue greater endeavors. He hires a local college student in dire need of a positive role model. After failing to find one James steps in an inadvertently gets involved in a sticky family situation that needs resolution. He's out of his league on this one but there's no one else to see it through.
