Stephen Addiss, PhD, is an art professor at Virginia's University of Richmond. He has shown his ink paintings and calligraphy in Asia, Europe, and the United States as a scholar-artist. He's also the author or writer of more than thirty East Asian art books and catalogues, including The Sound of One Hand: Zen Master Hakuin's Paintings and Calligraphy.
