The Four Letter Countries by David Jenkins
David Jenkins embarks on an 85,000 mile journey around the world that leads him into war-torn Iraq, through the minefields of Laos and across the Andes to Machu Picchu. He is forced to go on the run in Chad, gets arrested in Jihadist Iran and finds himself stranded in the jungles of Fiji. This book provides an account of his travels.
David Jenkins was born where the City of Manchester Stadium stands today. Educated at Stockport Grammar, he hitchhiked to France the day he left school and has trotted the globe ever since. He has waited tables in Switzerland, sprayed crops in Israel, crewed yachts around the Pacific and - "his greatest sporting achievement" - cleaned urinals at the prestigious Sydney Cricket Ground. He gave it all up to become a professor in Japan and run a business school in Rio de Janeiro before setting up his own company to deliver newspapers across Africa. His interests include Rod Stewart, crocodiles and Manchester City
