The Fragile Male by Ben Greenstein

Arguing that women have more latent power than they ever imagined, Dr Ben Greenstein asks why men are losing theirs and how they will react, and whether the human male is becoming redundant except as a sperm donor. In this study of maleness as it has evolved in nature, and particularly in humans, the author, a scientist and head of a lupus endocrine research team attached to London University, contends that the male is becoming redundant. He offers many examples from among other species of how organisms faced with stress react either in total dysfunction and sexual inadequacy or, if cornered, with aggression - both of which responses are only too evident in the human male today. Human males are governed by the same primitive, sometimes uncontrollable instincts as our fellow species; the same biological imperative that drives men to seek wealth, dominance and prostitutes. The book aims to help men and women to understand man's current status, and to contemplate his future and how it will affect women.
