Another Woman Who Looks Like Me, by Lyn Lifshin, was just released by Black Sparrow at David Godine in October of 2006. It was chosen for the 2007 Paterson Award for Literary Achievement, which honors former Paterson Poetry Prize finalists. ( ORDER AT GODINE.COM ) Ruffian: The Licorice Daughter: My Year With Ruffian, her prize-winning book on the legendary, short-lived gorgeous race horse, was published in 2006 by Texas Review Press. Before it's Light, Lifshin's other recent prize-winning novel, was released by Black Sparrow Press in the winter of 1999-2000, following the publication of Cold Comfort in 1997.
Lyn Lifshin: Not Made of Glass, an award-winning documentary film, is available from Women Make Movies. Her poems have appeared in most literary and poetry magazines, and she is the subject of an award-winning documentary film. Alicia Ostriker has referred to her work The No More Apologizing, the No More Tiny, Laughing Blues as one of the most stunning pieces of the women's poetry movement. On the Outside: Blues, Blue Lace, an update to her Gale Research Projects Autobiographical series, was released in Spring 2003. What Means Most and August Wind, as well as She Was Discovered Treading Water Far Out in the Ocean, In Mirrors, An Unfinished Journey, and Novemberly, were all published recently, and Tsunami is due out from BLUE UNICORN soon.
