Vikram Seth was trained as an economist. He has lived for several years each in England, California, China and India. He is the author of From Heaven Lake: Travels through Sinkiang and Tibet, several books of poems, two novels (not in verse), A Suitable Boy and An Equal Music, and a memoir, Two Lives.
