Like many early musical instruments revived in the 20th century, the clavichord has since developed a contemporary repertoire of its own. This book outlines the clavichord revival that began in England in the 1890s; the instrument makers, performers and composers that contributed; and looks at the influence of competitions and recordings in creating a new repertoire. There are chapters aimed at present-day players and composers, and a complete catalogue of works, together with a discography and a detailed bibliography.
