Before becoming a British MP, Matthew Parris worked for the Foreign Office. He now writes for The Times and the Spectator as a columnist, and in 2011 he was named Best Columnist at the British Press Awards. He is the author of several novels, including Chance Witness, an autobiography, and The Spanish Ambassador's Suitcase, a best-selling novel.
