Healing Art and Young People by Trevor Jeavons
Including examples from his work with young patients with his professional and personal conclusions, the author draws on his years of experience working with 'unhappy' children and adults to show that his individual approach can help young people to make sense of their lives and develop the strength to cope with their particular problems.
"Trevor Jeavons is truly one of the pioneers in the development of art therapy as a professionHe was one of the first qualified art therapists to work in the area of special needs education, contributing to both research and practice in the field. His years of experience and wisdom have found a distillation in this book. I hope that the reader will be inspired by what it contains in the way that the profession has been inspired through Trevor's life-long contribution." Dr. Janek Dubowski, Head of Subject for Psychological Therapies, School of Human and Life Sciences, Roehampton University, London. "Lovely book, a little pearl... and I can't wait for my students to get hold of it." Vibeka Skov, Clinical Psychologist, artist and author. There were many times when you saved me when I got stuck with some children who would not open up or bring down the barriers in my sessions. Art therapy is an essential part of a child and adolescent mental health service in my view." Dr Kusay Hadi, Clinical Director, Consultant Child Psychiatrist.
