The Horse Racing Miscellany by John White
Horse racing is a sport where the superstars of the track come and go every year and even if the human element remains constant, new equine legends are created on an annual basis. This volume is a mark of celebration of the world of the thoroughbred, from the four arab stallions of the 1700s to two-year-olds making their track debuts.
John White, dubbed the Master of the Sporting Factoid, has created a niche market with his sports Miscellany series, which now contains well in excess of a dozen titles. From his home in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he has created a database of facts, stats and stories on a wide range of sports from soccer to Formula 1 and cricket to cycling. Boxing legend Barry McGuigan, The Clones Cyclone, is a former world featherweight champion who also won a gold medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games, at bantamweight. He won 32 of his 35 professional fights, 28 inside the distance. Since retiring, he has become a regular on television and radio as a boxing analyst.
