Xand van Tulleken is a qualified doctor. He trained in medicine at Oxford and spent a decade working in the NHS before doing a Master's Degree in Public Health at Harvard University. He is well known for presenting popular TV programmes with his identical twin brother Dr Chris van Tulleken. He has presented numerous shows for the BBC and Channel 4 including the BAFTA-winning Operation Ouch, The Twinstitute, Planet Child, Horizon, Secret Life of Twins, Medicine Men Gone Wild and How to Lose Weight Well. He has also contributed medical analysis on CNN, BBC1 and 2, and Al Jazeera among others. As a junior doctor he worked in a variety of conflicts and disasters and this inspired a passion for the politics and medicine of conflict zones. He continues to teach and write about this subject and is the editor of the Oxford Handbook of Humanitarian Medicine. He lives and works in London.
