Howler by Michael Rosen

The human world is as confusing as ever for our canine hero. He can't understand why Trixie is getting bigger and bigger, and Rex is getting more grumpy. Then Trixie comes home with another small human! And nobody seems keen on our hero getting very close to him. But he soon finds consolation with the rather attractive lady dog next door who goes through a rather similar transformation to Trixie! A rambunctious dog's eye view of the chaos a small baby brings to the house.
'Fresh and entertaining, and ultimately enlightening' Scottish Sunday Herald 'The combination of Neal Layton's bright and simple illustrations and Rosen's child's-eye humour makes this a superb means of empathising with a child who's a bit miffed about a new arrival' Observer 'A good book to have if you (or the family dog) are about to produce a little usurperThe naive art illustrations are tantamount to scribbles, but were eagerly approved by my resident three-year-old' Sunday Tribune (Dublin) 'Amusing ... Neal Layton's scratchy, childlike illustrations are a delight' Independent on Sunday
