Historische Forschung gewinnt fur die Religionspadagogik (wieder) an Bedeutung. Dabei ist das Verhaltnis zwischen einer gegenwartsorientierten und zugleich geschichtsbewussten Theoriebildung zu bestimmen. Elisabeth Hohensee zeigt am Beispiel neuzeitlich-katechetischer Lehrbucher, welchen Gestaltungslogiken historische Forschung im Rahmen religionspadagogischer Theoriebildung folgt. Mithilfe der qualitativen Inhaltsanalyse untersucht sie die Darstellung des altkirchlichen Katechumenats in den zwischen 1750 und 1900 veroffentlichten Lehrbuchern der Katechetik. Fur ihre Analyse und den daran anschliessenden Entwurf historischer Religionspadagogik macht die Autorin den Rezeptionsbegriff fruchtbar. Die wissenschaftstheoretischen Uberlegungen zeigen, wie historische Forschung im Modus von Rezeption einen Beitrag auch zur Gegenwartsorientierung der Religionspadagogik leisten kann.
