Joe Cepeda earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach, then went on to Cornell University to study Engineering. Up and I Dig are two I Like to Read books that he both wrote and drew. Joe was awarded the Pura Belprè Honor by the American Library Association, as well as the George G. Washington University's Recognition of Excellence Award.
