Kyung-sook Shin is one of South Korea's most widely read and recognized novelists, having written multiple works of fiction. The Manhae Literature Award, the Dong-in Literature Prize, and the Yi Sang Literary Prize, as well as France's Prix de l'Inapercu, have all been bestowed upon her. She lives in Seoul and is currently a visiting scholar at Columbia University in New York City.
