Iliad, Volume I by Homer
The Iliad and the Odyssey of Homer (eighth century BC) are the two oldest European epic poems. The former tells of Achilles anger over an insult to his honor during the Trojan War, and of its consequences for the Achaeans, the Trojans, and Achilles himself.
Augustus Taber Murray (1866–1940) was Professor of Greek at Stanford University. William Frank Wyatt (1932–2011) was Professor of Classics at Brown University.
