Joiner, PhD, is the Robert O. Joiner, PhD, is the Robert O. Joiner, PhD, is Lawton Distinguished Professor at Florida State University's (FSU) Department of Psychology in Tallahassee, Florida. Dr. Joiner's research focuses on the psychology, neuroscience, and therapy of suicidal behavior and other mental illnesses. Dr. Joiner received the Guggenheim Fellowship and the Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Resident Fellowship for his approximately 480 peer-reviewed articles. He is a consultant for NASA's Human Research Program and the Director of the Military Suicide Research Consortium, which is supported by the Department of Defense. The Perversion of Virtue: Explaining Murder-Suicide is one of seventeen publications Dr. Joiner has written or edited.
