The Last Man by Mary Shelley

Originally published in 1833, this is the first of two volumes of Mary Shelley's science fiction novel set in 2100 concerning an apocalyptic future in which a catastrophic plague has destroyed almost all of mankind. Best known for the gothic novel Frankenstein, Shelley was also a prolific writer of short stories, travelogues and editorials.
