Kathy Izard worked as an award-winning graphic designer in Charlotte for twenty years before founding the Homeless to Housing pilot program for the Urban Ministry Center in 2007. She led the city-wide initiative to establish Moore Place, which now shelters over a hundred chronically homeless men and women, demonstrating that the Housing First program could work. Kathy's book The Hundred Story House, which won a Christopher Award in 2017, chronicles her journey to faith and calling. She has also received the Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Local Hero Award and the NC Housing Volunteer of the Year Award for her community service. Kathy, her husband, and their four girls have relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina.
