Little Big Sister by Rachel Pank
Kate is nearly four and desperately wants to be grown up, but in her little sister Lottie's eyes maybe she already is...Little Lottie follows Kate as she goes upstairs and into her mother's bedroom. There, Kate tries on her mother's clothes, does her hair, chooses some shoes and even puts on some make-up. Lottie thinks that this is great fun and she helps her sister dress up. When their mother sees what Kate and Lottie have been doing she makes Kate take off all the clothes again and have a bath to wash off the make-up. When Kate comes back from the bathroom, she sees Lottie dressed in her clothes. At first Kate is cross but when Lotttie explains that she was only trying them on because she wanted to be like her big sister, Kate is thrilled that someone thinks that she is grown-up.
Born in London, Rachel Pank spent a good part of her childhood reading and drawing. At school, in order to make lessons more interesting, she illustrated most of her schoolwork. On leaving school Rachel worked as a secretary, attending life classes and painting at a local adult education institute in the evenings. From there she went on to the University of Wales, where she studied Visual Art. She is now married and lives in London with her husband Martin, their son Leo and their cat Daisy.
