May by Naomi Kruger

A secret she promised to keep, a boy with hair like fire, and a terrible accident -they're all connected, if only May could remember how. May's lost memories compel those close to her to relive the defining moments that set them on their current course. Naomi Kruger's unforgettable debut explores memory, regret and the past's hold on the present.
Naomi Kruger is currently the creative co-director of the North West Literary Salon, Stories at the Storey and various other literary and community projects. She has an MA and PhD from Lancaster University and, as well as writing fiction, researches fictional representations of cognitive impairment and the ethical and aesthetic questions they raise. She lectures in creative writing at the University of Central Lancashire. Her short stories have been widely published and her first novel manuscript (partly narrated by a character with dementia) was highly commended in the Yeovil Literary Prize 2014.
