A Message for Santa by Hiawyn Oram
Emily loves Christmas -- except for one thing. The thought of Santa Claus coming to the house is worrying her slightly. So when mum finds her blocking up the chimney to stop him getting in, she suggests Emily lays down some ground rules for her Christmas visitor. She helps Emily to write a note asking Santa to use the back door instead of the chimney and only come as far as the kitchen table. And when Emily wakes up on Christmas morning, not only does she see that he has done everything she asked, she finds out that even Santa Claus is frightened of some things. A Message for Santa is a delightful tale which explores the problem of childhood within the reassuring setting of the warmth and excitement surrounding Christmas. Illustrated by Tony Ross with the quirky charm and gentle humour which guarantee the book will be loved by children.
