Old Mother Hubbard's Dog Learns to Play by John Yeoman
Old Mother Hubbard's Dog is up to no good! Old Mother Hubbard is fed up of her mischievous pup sitting about reading all day, so she suggests that he learn how to play. But then she hears the less than dulcet tones of the flute, the cello, the trombone, the violin and even the bagpipes! What a terrible din! Long-suffering Old Mother Hubbard is besieged by an onslaught of terrible noises! Whatever can she do? This lively and humorous nonsense poem is brilliantly written by John Yeoman and illustrated exuberantly by Quentin Blake.John Yeoman is the author of many humorous stories and poems. He taught for many years at the French Lycée in London as head of English and has worked with Quentin Blake on over 20 titles. Now retired from teaching, he spends his time reading, listening to opera, growing roses and writing even more humorous stories and poems.
Quentin Blake was the very first Children's Laureate. One of the world's foremost illustrators, he has won numerous awards for both for his books and his services to children's literature. He is most well-known for his wonderful work with Roald Dahl. John Yeoman and Quentin Blake first collaborated on A Drink of Water in 1960 and have been working together ever since.
