On Life by Peter Danby
On Life is a collection of poems and writings about one life and about all life. It captures memories of the life of a young lad from North Devon who never really grew up but simply went from one adventure to the next, travelling the world and seeing the light and the deep shadows that surround us. Many of the poems were written in times of emotional turmoil to try to make sense of those 'shadows' and understand the meaning and purpose of our lives. Many of them reflect a deep spiritual impulse and the insights gained on the mystical path that the author has walked for the last 30 years.
Born in 1956, Peter Danby grew up in the countryside of North Devon before heading off to see the world. He spent 14 years in the British Army rising to the rank of major before leaving to set up his own company providing leadership development for organisations around the world. Inspired by his grandmother, he became a healer and began to study at a mystical school. He set up a charity called Small Acts of Kindness to take his leadership work to young people effected by poverty and conflict and he runs programmes in Sri Lanka, Nepal and Rwanda. His poetry has become a way of making sense of his own experiences, of life and the world around us. Peter, now lives in Kent with his wife Rosy and near to his two children and granddaughter.
