Grevel Lindop, former Professor of Romantic and Early Victorian Studies at the University of Manchester, is now a freelance writer. The Opium-Eater: A Biography of Thomas De Quincey, A Literary Guide to the Lake District, Journeys on the Dance Floor, which was a BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week, and a twenty-one volume edition of Thomas De Quincey's Writings are among his earlier works. He's produced six collections of poetry, the most recent of which was Collected Poems, which came out in 2000. He presently lives and works as a freelance writer in Manchester.
