The Portrait Now by Sandy Nairne
Presents a selection of contemporary portraits from across the world. The portraits have been chosen to show the developments in painting, sculpture, video art, photography and self-portraiture, and to highlight changes in the artistic presentation of the human form. They illustrate how artists are responding to the human condition.
Sandy Nairne is Director of the National Portrait Gallery. Sarah Howgate is Contemporary Curator at the National Portrait Gallery. She previously worked in New York and Los Angeles, where she set up a gallery specialising in contemporary art.
