Prints Charming by Cath Derksema

Tapping into the handmade revival, and a renewed appreciation of lost home-making skills, this is a book of simple, contemporary and very covetable sewing projects that require little skill, ranging from children's toys to napery, cushions, decorations, bedlinen, bags and simple items of clothing such as shorts and aprons. Projects are presented in room-by-room themes and beautifully photographed on location in a contemporary home and in the authors' warehouse-style studio. Each project is accompanied by photos and all of them are suitable for beginners sewing for the first time through to more experienced craftspeople wanting fresh inspiration.
Cath Derksema and Kirsten Junor are the owners of Prints Charming, a fabric design studio located in Sydney, Australia, which supplies prestigious New York-based fabric wholesaler Marcus Fabrics with their seasonal designs. With backgrounds in fabric design, product development and marketing, they met during the 80s while working for John Kaldor Fabricmaker. Cath went on to found the very successful homewares brand Art Park, while Kirsten studied costume making for film and theatre at the National Institute of Dramatic Art and worked overseas. A chance encounter 15 years later revived their mutual passion for good design, colour and textiles and Prints Charming opened for business. Now, in addition to supplying Marcus Fabrics, they print and sell fabrics for their mail order and direct customers, make all manner of soft furnishings, gifts and clothing and run classes in the same. Each year, Cath and Kirsten participate in the Houston craft and textiles fair.
