The Properties of Water by Hannah Roberts Mckinnon
When Lace's older sister, Marni, falls victim to a summer swimming accident, it paralyzes Lace in time. For Lace, there is only a before--can there be an after? But as the summer surges on, she learns that she must return to the water, the very thing that tore her family apart. This beautifully crafted novel explores the boundaries of family and friendship, the greatest griefs that knock us down, and the smallest kindnesses that guide us to safe harbors.
Hannah Roberts McKinnon grew up in Connecticut's Fairfield County, writing and painting about animals. She grew up as the daughter of an English teacher, falling asleep to the click-clack of her father's typewriter and inheriting his love of words and books. In Mrs., she went to her first young author's conference. Myers' third-grade class was blown away by her debut story, Rodents on the Range, a hamster Western, and she hasn't looked back since. Hannah earned a bachelor's degree from Connecticut College.
English and primary education are two areas where I excel. She went on to study for her M.A. in Australia. Flinders University of South Australia awarded him a sixth-year education degree. Hannah sat down to write her first novel during her daughter Grace's naps after ten years of sharing her passion of children's reading with her elementary school students.
The Properties of Water, her second novel, is set to be released in 2010. Hannah is hard at work on her second novel, once again stealing moments to write, this time during her daughter Finley's naps. Her family and two wonderful dogs live in Connecticut.
