Art Spiegelman nacio en Estocolmo en 1948. Es fundador y coeditor de Raw, revista de historietas de renombre internacional. Su obra ha aparecido en The New York Times, Playboy y Village Voice. Los dibujos de Maus se expusieron en el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York. El libro fue un gran bestseller, traducido a doce idiomas, y recibio importantes distinciones, entre ellas un premio Pulitzer especial. Spiegelman vive en Nueva York con su mujer e hija.
