Sedona by Kathleen Bryant
A visual tour of Sedona's many attractions.
Kathleen Bryant was only six months old when her parents bundled her up for her first road trip West, and she's been traveling ever since. Among her earliest memories is watching Emery and Ellsworth Kolb's movie about their 1911 river-running expedition at Grand Canyon's Kolb Studio. Since then, Kathleen has returned to Grand Canyon again and again to hike its trails, raft the Colorado, and explore dusty backroads and seldom-seen overlooks. An avid hiker and history buff, Kathleen has volunteered for the forest service, monitoring and stabilizing archaeological sites and leading visitors on tours of ruins and rock art in the Sedona area. A resident of Arizona for more than twenty years, she appreciates the way Grand Canyon holds all the Southwest's landscapes: slickrock, forests, mountains, and desert. Kathleen has written eleven books, including Kokopelli's Gift, an award-winning children's story, and the scenic guides Sedona: Treasure of the Southwest and Four Corners: Timeless Lands of the Southwest. In Western National Parks' Lodges Cookbook, she combines her love of travel with history and recipes from historic park lodges. Kathleen has also written for American Archaeology, American Artist, Arizona Highways, Sunset, and other magazines.
