* Irish Mountain Log *Frank Worsley, born in 1872 in Akaroa in the South Island of New Zealand on Banks Peninsula, was a master mariner. In 1917 he won a DSO for sinking a U-boat and then a second DSO fighting the Bolshevik Army. Worsley was close to Shackleton through the whole expedition. He died in New Zealand.
