Singing and Inclusion by Carlo Nardi
This book provides a valuable contribution to the discourses on diversity, equity and inclusion in relation to education in singing.
The role of inclusion is a topic of interest for both scholars of education sciences and those working in the field of music education, where access and participation must be granted for all regardless of differences between individuals. The chapters address topics such as reciprocity in education, critical pedagogy, the relationship between singing and disability, singing as a means of inclusion for people with a migrant background, community music, singing in school curricula, and methodology in the study of singing. The collection comprises practical advice to promote new and creative methods in music teaching in the classroom as well as in other contexts, including non-formal ones, acknowledging and understanding differences in order to guarantee universal access to education.
The book will engage music scholars, music teachers, school teachers, social workers, students, choir directors and choristers.
