The Sirius Mystery by Robert Kg Temple
Is the existence of civilization on Earth a result of contact from inhabitants of a planet in the sysyem of the star Sirius prior to 3000 BC? There are tribal cultures in present-day Africa whos most sacred and secret traditions are based on this theory. Central to their cosmology is a body of knowledge concerning the system of the star Sirius that is accurate in detail, including specific information only recently accesible to modern science. The author traces the traditions of the Dogon and three related tribes back 5000 years to the ancient Mediterranean cultures of Egypt and Sumer. He shows a knowledge dependent on physics and astrophysics, which they claimed was imported to them by visitors from Sirius.Robert Temple is a visiting professor of scientific history and philosophy at Tsinghua University in Beijing, as well as a member of the Royal Astronomical Society, the Egypt Exploration Society, the Royal Historical Society, the Institute of Classical Studies, and the Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies, as well as a visiting research fellow at the University of the Aegean in Greece. He's written ten books, including The Sirius Mystery and China's Genius. For National Geographic Channel, he created, produced, and presented the documentary film Descent into Hell, which was based on this book. In 1993, his translation of the Gilgamesh Epic was performed at the Royal National Theatre in London. He and his wife, Olivia, live in England. They collaborated on Aesop: The Complete Fables as co-translators.
