In Los Angeles, Gavin Scott works as a screenwriter. His family emigrated to New Zealand when he was a toddler from Yorkshire, England, and he grew up in rural Hawkes Bay. He spent a year teaching English to the children of head hunters in Borneo when he was 17, and then journeyed across Asia to London after graduating from Victoria University of Wellington. He worked as a reporter for the Times Newspapers, the BBC radio and television, and Independent Television News throughout his time there. He went on to write Little Soldiers for Steven Spielberg, The Borrowers for Working Title, and many other films and TV miniseries, including Mists of Avalon and War and Peace, after George Lucas asked him to join the team that created the TV series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles in 1990.
