Connie Dial, in her twenty-seven-year career with the Los Angeles Police Department, rose through the ranks from patrol officer to undercover intelligence officer, narcotics detective, internal affairs surveillance officer, watch commander, captain, and area commanding officer of the LAPD's Hollywood Police Station. Before joining the LAPD, she was a reporter and photographer for a chain of California newspapers, an editor for a trade magazine, and a television news writer. She is the author of several crime novels, and her first Josie Corsino mystery, Fallen Angels, was named a Kirkus Reviews Best Book for 2012. She lives in Southern California with her husband, a retired police detective, and two Yorkshire Terriers, Bogart and Bacall.
