The Solicitor's Handbook by Andrew Hopper Qc

This authoritative guide to the rules and regulations governing solicitors has been comprehensively updated to take account of all of the recent developments in this area, including changes to the Solicitors' Code of Conduct and the Solicitors' Accounts Rules. "The Solicitor's Handbook 2009" provides expert commentary on the practical reality of the regulatory and disciplinary environment in which solicitors operate, and discusses all of the relevant decided cases in the field. There is also a comprehensive range of supporting materials including the text of the latest versions of the Solicitors' Code of Conduct 2007 and the Solicitors' Accounts Rules 1998, including the Reporting Accountant's Report Form as revised in May 2009. The 2009 Edition also includes: SRA Recognised Bodies Regulations 2009 (31 March 2009); Solicitors' Financial Services (Scope) Rules 2001 (revised 31 March 2009); SRA Warning Cards (May 2009); Law Society's Anti-Money Laundering Practice Note; and Legal Services Act 2007 (extracts). This invaluable resource can assist practitioners in maintaining high professional standards and enabling them to identify and deal with regulatory and disciplinary issues before they develop into loss for clients and others, damage to reputation, and regulatory interest.
'The 2009 edition is an invaluable resource to assist practitioners in high professional standards and enabling them to identify and deal quickly and effectively with regulatory and disciplinary issues' ARDL Quarterly Bulletin 'It is books like this that come to the rescue of solicitors who are beset with a vast range of legal, regulatory and compliance provisions that leave many bewildered. This book is a comprehensive in-depth guide to these key provisions. This is a book that is designed to ensure that solicitors can be fully acquainted with the legal and regulatory provisions that impact on their areas of practice.' Modus Operandi 'There's no more authoritative guide to the rules and regulations governing solicitors in England and Wales than the second edition of The Solicitor's Handbook.' Phillip Taylor, barrister, Richmond Green Chambers 'The Solicitor's Handbook 2009 is impressively put together and pulls together the key materials in to one handy volume - the guidance provided is excellent and it is a text which should remain close to any lawyer charged with compliance issues within a firm. Given the importance of compliance and the wide ranging powers of the regulator, all firms should invest in a copy of The Solicitor's Handbook 2009.' The Student Law Journal
