Spacebaby and the Mega-Volt Monster by Henrietta Branford
A delightful second book about Spacebaby from the award-winning author, Henrietta Branford. Spacebaby splashes to Earth, summoned by his friend, Tipperary. Something strange is happening under the sea – and the shock waves are very alarming! Spacebaby splashes down to earth again – aged 16 months, not 16 years, as he’d planned! He quickly meets up with his Earth friends again; the eccentric Tipperary and her boyfriend Charley, Hector, the bouncy dog, and Aunt Doris and her chickens. Together they set out in SOFTIE to catch Elvis, the giant electric eel who’s causing chaos in the ocean – he’s lovesick for a cyber eel, and his shock-waves are felt far and wide… There follows a crazy boat chase, as they are pursued by the evil Silas Stoatwarden… How can Elvis be pacified? Could the answer lie in the depths of Loch Ness?“Spacebaby and the Mega-Volt Monster is Henrietta Branford’s fabulously funny and chaotic follow-up to Spacebaby”
The Times Educational Supplement
Henrietta Branford’s first Spacebaby was very well received and has sold almost 15,000 copies since October 96.
She grew up in the New Forest. Her rural childhood inspired all her writing and shone through her Ruby Red stories. She worked from home, where her desk overlooked a wildlife garden which, though urban, received some surprising visitors. Henrietta enjoyed meeting children to talk about books and writing. She liked to explore such questions as Where do good ideas come from? and How do stories begin?
She sadly died of cancer in April 1999, robbing the world of a very special talent.
