Former Cold War operator Keith Landry returns to his small home town, his job over. He meets Annie, his teenage love and correspondent for 20 years, but she is now married to the town police chief, a man of violent jealousy. He grew up on Long Island, and graduated from Hofstra University with a degree in Political Science and History. DeMille served as an infantry officer in Vietnam, then worked as a journalist and short story writer, before writing his first major novel, ‘By the Rivers of Babylon’.
