Spinoza's Ethics is one of the most significant texts of the early modern period, important to history, philosophy, Jewish studies and religious studies. Matthew J. Kisner is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of South Carolina. He is the author of Spinoza on Human Freedom: Reason, Autonomy and the Good Life (Cambridge, 2011) and the co-editor (with Andrew Youpa) of Essays on Spinoza's Ethical Theory (2014). Michael Silverthorne, formerly Professor in Classics at McGill University, Montreal, has translated a number of neo-Latin texts including works by Bacon, Pufendorf, Locke and Francis Hutcheson. He co-translated Spinoza's Theological-Political Treatise (Cambridge, 2007).
