George Vecsey is the author of a number of books, including the best-selling Stan Musial: An American Life. He began working for The New York Times in 1968, and from 1982 to 2011, he wrote the Sports of the Times column. He is presently a contributing columnist. He was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2013 for his efforts as one of the first columnists at a major American soccer publication. The sport will be covered by a newspaper. He resides in the town of Port Washington, New York.
