A Star in his own Imagination by Paul Allen
Memoir by a man who now has Locked-In Syndrome
Paul Allen was born in the London borough of Croydon in 1956. He was a talented singer and wedding photographer. At the age of fifty-three he took early retirement from his day job as a project manager with an IT company, thinking he would build his business as a photographer. But the recession came and his business suffered a low time. Paul was still very happily singing in shows and charity concerts when a devastating stroke hit him on 3 July 2012, resulting, sadly, in Locked-In Syndrome. Today, Paul remains mainly cheerful and positive about his future. He has many visitors and keeps in touch with his friends and family. His body may be paralysed but his brain is still very active and his ability to communicate is brilliant.
