Stark by Edward Bunker

Across the LaPlatt Brook is the only small finger of land connected to Katelyn Took's Farm. It's the Gypsy Copse, a place where pleasant memories of her childhood and her grandfather were forged. Now, the secluded area has been stained. A body has been found, a woman, killed elsewhere, and left. A fourteen-year-old boy has a secret, and a hint, for a trail that will lead Katie into danger. She's crossing the state line and taking Marlie with her. Who is waiting? What will they do to save themselves?
