"A modern-day Blue Peter annual for grown-ups" -- Mr Scruff "The British Summer does exist! The Big Chill way" -- Matt Black, Coldcut "Forget seaside rock, damp cagoules and soggy sandwiches: the real British summer starts right here" -- Peter Carlton, Film4 "The ultimate "fabulocious" festival guide for the summer" -- Levi Roots
Founded by Pete Lawrence and Katrina Larkin in 1994, The Big Chill has grown from humble beginnings into a highly-respected organisation. Starting as a Sunday all-dayer in Islington's Union Chapel, The Big Chill's main annual event moved from there to the Black Mountains on the Welsh Border, and then on to Dorset's Larmer Tree Gardens, where it established its reputation as one of the most innovative new events on the circuit. After a one-off event at Lulworth Castle in Dorset in 2001, The Big Chill upgraded to its new home, the Eastnor Castle Deer Park in the beautiful setting of the Malvern Hills in Herefordshire. Throughout its development, the festival has retained its intimacy, ensuring that those who come along recognise and respect its unique atmosphere.
