Tempest by Terry A Hermsen

Welcome to Tempest>

This book reflects the earthly experiences, visions and concerns of eight contemporary poets-six from central Ohio, one from Kentucky and one from Punta Arenas, Chile Each writes passionately about caring deeply for our planetary home in these crucial times-times of great challenge, as well as opportunity.

These are poems of hope. hope that we can listen more carefully to each other. and to all the creatures and dynamic phenomenon we share this world with. Willows and storms. Rivers and homes. Sunsets and families. Goldfinches and meadows and green-tressed hills. Even deerflies. Beginning with an ancient creation myth and stretching into predictions for the future, these poems offer us moments to dwell in, spaces where we can breathe more deeply, reflections on our shifting weather and the loss of species, contemplations on how to open up our hearts and move forward toward revitalization and reconnection with the precious pulse of life.

We are grateful to the musicians of Early Interval, who invited us to join them in this adventure.

Our poets, pictured on the cover are, from top left to bottom right: Travis McClerking, Terry Hermsen, Laurie Anderson, Jeff Gundy, Hannah Stephenson, Dionne Custer Edwards, Amelia Christmas Gramling, and Christian Formoso.

Give the earth a listen.
