This is Not My Nose by Michael Rosen

A companion volume to Carrying the Elephant, Michael Rosen tells the the story of his undiagnosed illness - a malfunctioning thyroid gland - which turned him into somebody he could hardly recognize: large, lethargic, ill at ease in the world. After 15 years it took just a simple course of drugs to turn him back into the real Mike Rosen. Painful, funny, scrupulously honest, these are poems that touch the heart but deal with the profoundest matters.
Michael Rosen was brought up in north London, and studied English at Oxford. Apart from a spell as a trainee at the BBC, he has since made a living as a freelance broadcaster and writer. He is known mostly as a children's poet but his adult volume, Carrying the Elephant, about the death of his son Eddie, was highly acclaimed when published by Penguin in 2002. He lives in Dalston, north London, with his wife and young daughter.
